I don't know how many of you find yourself every so often listening to one song, and thinking of another song. But I appreciate the geniuses that do, and who then go out and "MAKE IT SO!"
It's a divisive topic. Some folk hate 'em, then there's the whole shennanigans of copyright - the mash-up however, lives in a curious place I think. The bands are acknowledged, the songs themselves are not "remade" - but are combined with other songs of similar (or in some cases quite different!) temperament. The folk who make them are not doing it for profit, but for love.
I love mash-ups. Wish I could really make them, myself.
Thought I'd blether about this because I was listening to some 80's stuff today, and Janet Jackson's Black Cat came on. For some reason I started thinking Enter Sandman by Metallica. I wish that I had the skills to blend the two. There are probably many folk though, who are equally glad that I don't. ;D
